Is Jay Leno turning into mr. Nice Guy? The late-night comedian, who made jokes about David Letterman’s past relationships with female staffers just a matter of weeks ago, turned the tables on Monday night and instead told a light-hearted story about the two filming their Super Bowl commercial together last week.

Apparently, this is how it all went down: Letterman’s people reached out to both Oprah and Jay, who both happily accepted an invitation to jump on board. Leno flew to New York last week, dressed in a hoodie / fake mustache, and filmed the commercial going completely undetected. Leno then joked that NBC called them, hearing that David Letterman was doing something unusual and fearing it involved President Obama.

During the explanation Leno was extremely kind to his soon-to-rival, referring to him as an “old friend” who was “very gracious” during their time together.

Do you think Jay Leno made the right move in filming the commercial? Let me know your thoughts with a comment below.
